I’m taking a course in grad school about digital media, and through the course I’ve been learning how to make cool things. I used InDesign to turn an essay I wrote on John Cage into a magazine/book which I think is cool, and I made a short film, both of which I wanted to share with you. It’s not Surf’s Up Obama, but I’d love to hear what you think and then to see/read/watch anything any of you have been making or doing lately.
This year’s Name of the Year bracket is out and it is awesome. Enjoy.
Alright, so I haven’t looked at this in a really long time. But it is pretty awesome to view all of 2010’s posts at once. I couldn’t resist posting since Howard mentioned my name (I guess someone smiles like I do). Karen and I live in central/upstate NY in a REALLY small town. But it’s really cool. I teach Latin and English at the local K-12 school that only has 600 kids total. Lucky for us the Church has a branch right in town (the usual attendance is about 40 people). Our son, Jared, is going to be 5 this summer and is currently attending pre-school (in the same building where I teach, if you can imagine that) and he loves it. The nurse told me that the other day she brought Jared in for a screening and asked his name. He told her that he was Buzz Lightyear. She asked again and he, obviously annoyed, repeated that he was Buzz Lightyear. For your viewing pleasure I have added a picture of me looking really angry with a chainsaw. There is this guy in our branch that can do anything and he showed me how to saw down a tree and properly split wood for a furnace.
That’s all for now, but I will return more frequently!
So this morning I listened to Kickstart My Heart right before I went to take a OB Pediatric test. I think I’m the first nursing student in the history of nursing to get pumped up for a test about postpartum complications by the Crue. So I went into the classroom expecting the test to instantly set on fire as soon as I started working on it possibly causing the whole building to set on fire and of course resulting in an A. Turns out I got a B. Last time I had a test I listened to Electric Feel by MGMT and I got an A. Motley Crue just can’t seem to cut it anymore in 2010.
I was speaking with Howard yesterday about life on his ranch and asked him if I could ever go and do a cattle round-up with his people. Shortly after that I was thinking of the possibility of going on an Awesome City Round-up. We talk about reunions periodically and a round-up could be cool…and hilarious (just imagine Jon S. trying to do anything with a cow). Of course this would only be possible if Howard gave us the green light. There would also be a number of other things to consider such as timing, expenses, and whether or not you are man enough or just a nancy.
There are a number of reasons why this wouldn’t work but I’m just throwing this out there for your thoughts. What do you think?
On a different note, some of my roomates watch a lot of American Idol. A part of the competition involved them forming groups and performing. One of the groups called themselves Awesome City.
